Ministers In Training

The “Ministers in Training? (MIT) program is designed to provide a solid foundation for spiritual growth and to equip believers to function effectively as part of the Body of Christ. These courses are foundational, but they are not designed only for new Christians. Believers of all ages and levels of maturity will benefit from completing this training program.

Participation in the MIT program is required for those who wish to serve in any leadership position and certain other ministry position at CFC. In addition, certain MIT courses are required for those serving in specific ministries. (Exceptions can be made in the case of those with extensive previous training and/or ministry experience.)

Graduation requirements

Please note that the following is somewhat out of date, and that we are in the process of updating this progrem.

In order to graduate from the MIT program you must complete the following courses:

First Year
* Personal Spiritual Growth (Fall)
* Introduction to Ministry (Spring)

Second Year
* Lifestyle Evangelism OR World Religions/Missions (Fall)
* Christian Beliefs OR World Views (Spring)

Third Year
* Bible Interpretation 1 and 2 (two semester course)

The program can be completed in three years, or in two if you double up and take Bible Interpretation at the same time as the other courses. (Since this course is usually offered on a weeknight, it is possible to take it at the same time as another course.) Also, it is possible to take these courses “out of order,? although it is preferable to take them in the order listed above.

For those who have already completed similar training elsewhere, a required course may occasionally be waived with the approval of the Training Coordinator and/or the Pastor.

To receive credit for taking a course you must complete the course with a passing grade. This will require regular attendance and completion of homework assignments.

In the case of the second year courses, you are encouraged after to return as an “alum? after graduation to complete the alternate courses which you have not taken.
