Primary Hiring Purpose: Shaping the discipleship process for children and their families to know Christ and to grow in the Gospel together.

Responsibilities & Expectations:
Community:
● To know and be known and to love and be loved by the members of CFC Berkeley
● To be fully immersed and participate in the life, mission, and vision of CFC Berkeley
● To partner with families to oversee the spiritual growth of the children at CFC Berkeley
Vision and leadership:
● Accept the current vision of a Gospel-centered, family discipleship-focused children ministry
● Refine the vision for Children’s Ministry in collaboration with the Children’s Ministry Deacon
● Provide leadership and encouragement to the co-worker team and serve as a model for co-workers and children
Teaching and Preaching:
● Teach and preach in Children’s Sunday worship, Sunday school, Friday fellowship, Nursery, Vacation Bible School (VBS) or other educational activities as needed
● Provide necessary training for Children ministry coworkers and establish a reviewing scheme
● Develop the Sunday school, Friday children’s fellowship curriculum, along with activities such as VBS and other special events
Communication and Pastoral Care:
● Actively communicate with parents about the progress of the Children Ministry
● Provide pastoral counseling for children and their family as needed
Planning:
● Initiate and lead all phases of strategic planning
● Review and propose budgetary and facility planning as needed
● Review and propose any safety and security related measures and policy as needed
Administration:
● Organize, participate, and oversee all the events of the Children ministry
● Recruit and build up the children’s ministry coworker team

Qualifications:
● A vibrant faith and trust in Jesus Christ
● Have a heart for children with a focus on loving, serving and pointing them to Jesus Christ
● Strong organizational and leadership skills
● Ability to coordinate and train teachers and leaders
● Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in education or Christian education
● Cross-cultural sensitivity between second generation Asian Americans and first generation Chinese immigrant families
● Fluent in English

Preferred Qualifications:
● 3 or more years of experience serving in a similar capacity
● Proficient in Mandarin
● Master's degree from a Christian college with an early childhood education background

*This is a Full-time salaried position with benefits. This position will report to the Senior Pastor of CFC Berkeley, and collaborate with the current Children Deacon.
